JUSTICES OF THE PEACE
ANNUAL SOCIAL EVENING The annual social evening of the Auckland Justices of the Peace Association to country justices was held on Wednesday in the reception room at the Fanners' Trading Company. The guests, who included Mr. .Justice O'Regan, were received by the president of tho Auckland association, Mr. J. li. Paterson, and Mrs. Patcrson. Brief addresses were given by Mr. Paterson and by Mr. Justice O'Regan. On behalf of the Federation of New Zealand Justices, Mr. Paterson mado a presentation of a silver tea and coflee set with a tray, suitably inscribed, to Mrs. Eric Millar, formerly Miss Sunday Stratford, for the valuable services rendered by her to the federation by her assistance to her father, Mr. A. J. Stratford, the registrar. Several toasts were honoured during the evening and a programme was contributed to by Miss Jean Macfarlatie, Miss Jean Warren and Mr. \V. Macfarlane. Mrs. Mary Neil was the accompanist.
