E. Reynolds, presided and others present were members of the stall and Mr. W. S. Dempsey. headmaster of the Auckland West School, and Mr. 11. I. Blow, vice-president of tho Auckland Primary Schools' Rugby Union In congratulating the Newton Central teams on their performances in the season just closed, Mr. Morris presented N. Nottingham with a cricket bat for the school and with a book as captain of the intermediate team. It. Spiers, captain of tho junior team, also received a gift. Mr. Reynolds paid a warm tribute to the great interest I a ken by Mr. Morris in the Newton schools and in the sport of the boys. The Newton Central intermediate, winners of tho Domain group chamjdonship, was runner-up for tho Auckland Primary bchools Rugby Union's championship. Tho team played eight matches, won six and lost two, scoring HO points, with .1.4 <isJiinst. \Ltio New toil Central junior won the Domain group championship and was joint winner of tho championship for tho Rupert Moore Shield. It won seven of eight matches and drew one, scoring 157 points, with none against. This, suid Mr. Reynolds, was a ro markablo record, the team's lino not being crossed.
