LUXURY BUYING
BOOMING IN NEW YORK (Reed. 5.5 p.m.) NEW YORK, Sept. 29 The Wall Street Journal says that sellers of luxury goods are doing a fabulous business. The sale of the most costly furs, finest diamonds, vintage champagne, silk cravats and other expensive goods is booming across retail counters at a rate not seen since 1929. There is some buying because of higher taxes ahead, and some buying iu spite of higher taxes, but some purchasing denotes high living and feverish spending, traditional portent of inflation. -
