A REQUEST FOR STAMPS An appeal for assistance to the Lord .'Mayor of Portsmouth's relief fund by gifts of used and unused stamps of all kinds has been received at the Magistrate's Court, Auckland, from the Department of Clerk to the Justices, Municipal College, Portsmouth. "As you are probably aware the civilian population of the city of Portsmouth have suffered heavily in enemy air attacks by the loss of their personal possessions and household goods, and the Lord Mayor, Sir Denis L. Daley, has a fund to assist those in real need," the appeal states. "He has many calls upon this and has been expending about £.'500 a week in relief." Gifts of stamps sent to the department would be welcomed.
