DOCTORS AND TRADES UNIONS

Sir, —During the past week or two many trades union meetings have passed resolutions urging upon the Government the necessity of carrying on with the proposed social security legislation. At these meetings we have seen no mention of the trades unionists urging upon the Government the necessity of a 40-hour week for the doctors, or overtime or double time pay for ail work done after 5 p.m. or on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, if we had seen these things we might believe that the trades unionists were really interested in social security, and justice for all, and not only in their particular brand of politics. E.W.JI.
