INCREASE IN BIRTHS
AUCKLAND STATISTICS An appreciable decrease in tne number of deaths and a slight increase in births in Auckland, as compared with the same month last is shown in the vital statistics for September. There were 218 deaths. 3d lessthan in September, 1910. bringing the total for the year to date to 1962. as against ISIO for the same period last, year The total of 355 births is an in- - crease of 13 over the corresponding month in 1940. and makes the number of births for the year to_ date which is 435 more than for the first ; nine months of 1940. Marriage notices were slightly fewer than for September last year, but- tne marriages conducted by the registrar continued the advance shown ' month over the corresponding month _ last year. .Marriage notices Jn >e P" tembeV a \car ago totalled 215 and'so* marriages were conducted by the rcgi>- . trar. while this year the month's totals were 208 and 55.
