ELECTION CANDIDATE
OPPONENT FOR MR. BARNARD (0.c.) NAPIER. Thursday
The National Party candidate to contest the Napier seat at the general election is Mr. M. S. Spence. a partner in an accountancy firm. His was the only name submitted. Mr. Spence wis born in Edinburgh in 18SS. He educated at Melville College and a l < Edinburgh University, and is a chartered accountant of Scotland, being a member of the Society of Accountants, Edinburgh. Mr. Spence arrived in Xew Zealand in 1916. He is president of. the Napier sub-centre and Hawke's Bay centre of the Bed Cross, and has been a member of the Napier Borough Council for nine years.'
The Napier seat is at present held by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, the Hon. W. E. Barnard.
