CHATEAU EXCURSION
SKI-INQ CONDITIONS QOOD A special week-end excursion train carrying about 150 passengers leftAuckland for the Chateau shortly before 11 o'clock last night. The train will leave National Park to-morrow night, arriving at Auckland at about. 7 a.m. on Monday. *
Conditions for ski-iag after the heavy fall of snow at the Chateau last weekend are stated to be. excellent. No snow has fallen since then. The weather yesterday was overcast, but there was every promise of a fine week-end. With the arrival of the party, accommodation at the Chateau will be fully taxed. All the roads in the district are now cleared, except for the road up Mount Ruapehu. Two gangs of prisoners from the Waikune prison camp were employed yesterday in clearing this road, but they had not reached as far as Salt Hut last night.
