The Flame's Dance

Sway like a willow, oh, flame in the wind. Like a gay dancer in red ballet dress. Dark "re the shadows that dimly surround her, The music grows faster, the shadows are less; Soft as sweet eve, oh, flame of the candle, Yellow light dimmed by the glow of the fire, Where flames like wild gipsies are leaping and prancing. Reaching up, rearing up, higher and higher, So dance the flames in a frenzied delight, Red berobed dancers of fire and of fame. Making the darkness so weird and so bright. That is the Work and the play of a flame. —Original, by Valerie Spanner (10). D.M.B.G.
