DOBSON MINE DISPUTE
COUNCIL TO MAKE INQUIRY (0.c.) , GEEYMOUTH. Thursday The Dobsoh mine remains idle as a result of the decision of the men on Tuesday not to work because of the alleged refusal of the company to observe an independent chairman's decision in a dispute over the interpretation of the minimum wage clause. It is unlikely that work will be recommenced before Tuesday of next week. An inquiry will be conducted at Greymouth on Monday by the Coal Mines Council, consisting of Messrs. T. 0. Bishop (chairman), C. J. Strongman and A. McLagan. Tho president of the Grey Valley (Dobson) Miners' Union, Mr. W. Purdy, said to-day that the miners would not return to work until the council's decision was given.
