STATE HOUSING
SCHEME FOR TAMAKI On the recommendation of the Townplanning Committee, the City Council last night decided to inform the State Housing Department that the council was not prepared to withdraw the area involved in the proposed housing development scheme in I aylor s Hlock, Tamaki. from the rural zone of the council's city plan until the co-ordinat-ing plan for the metropolitan area had been approved. It was also decided to inform the department that a commit tec had set up in connection with the co-ordinating plan and it was hoped that the latter would lie completed in approximately 1- months time.
The Director of Housing C (instruction, in a letter, stated that, since the council's recent decision to waive certain stipulations regarding the plans of the proposed State housing scheme in Grey s Avenue, and payment of its share of the cost of the' site, steps had been taken to exercise the options over the latter and arrangements were in hand for the completion of tlie purchases. The Mayor, Mr. J. A. C. Allum, remarked that undoubtedly the Government was going on with the scheme.
