VISIT TO DISTRICT

INSPECTION OF UNITS "i

PROGRAMME ARRANGED The military adviser to the New Zealand Government, Lieutenant-General - Sir Giiy Williams, K.C.8., C.8., C M G., D.5.0., will visit the Nor then. Military District for four days next week. A comprehensive itinerary has been prepared to enable him to obtain in a short time a representative view of the district's military organisation and the degree of its efficiency. General Williams will arrive in Hamilton on Tuesday morning and will be met by the officer commanding the district, Brigadier P. H. Bell, D.S.O. At night he will inspect the Hamilton troop of the 7th Medium Battery at the drill hall and Hamilton personnel of the Waikato Regiment at the Bledisloe Hall. Later he will deliver a short talk at the Bledisloe Hall to officers and non-commissioned officers on the active list who arc located in the vicinity of Hamilton.

Leaving Hamilton on Wednesday morning, General Williams will inspect the Papakura mobilisation camp, and after lunch continue to the Avondale camp for an inspection of the Territorial Force reinforcements in training there. Ho will arrive in the city later in the afternoon, and at night will inspect the 'lst Battalion, Auckland Regiment, at the Rutland Street drill hall. After the inspection he will address Territorial Force non-commis-sioned officers located in the vicinity of Auckland.

(7»i Thursday General Williams trill inspect coastal defence units and the Northern Military District School of Instruction at Narrow Neck. At night he will address all officers on the active list in the vicinity of Auckland at the Officers' Club.

Leaving Auckland on Friday, General Williams will inspect the Territorial Force training camps at Cambridge and Rotorua and at night give a short talk at Rotorua to officers and non-commissioned officers. On Saturday he will leave Rotorua for Napier.
