MENINGITIS IN NORTH
SPORADIC CASES POSSIBLE (0.C.) WHANG A R EI, Tuesday It is now 17 days since the last case of spinal meningitis was reported from the Bay of Islands district, and it appears that the outbreak of the disease in that district is definitely checked. Speaking on the position to-day, the medical officer of health for North Auckland, Dr. G. 0. L. Dempster, said that, although the outbreak in the Bay of Islands district appeared to have been checked, it. was possible that sporadic cases of the disease might occur throughout the winter. These cases might have no traceable connection with the cases in the Bay of Islands area, niul might occur in localities distant from Kawakawa and Moerewa, where the outbreak of the past two months lias centred.
