THEFT OF BOLTS
MILL EMPLOYEE CHARGED (0.C.) ROTORUA, Tuesday An employee of the State Forest Service, whose name was suppressed, was charged in the liotorua Police Court with stealing tour bolts and washers I'rom the Whakarewarewa Slate mill. While admitting the fact that the bolts bad been found in bis client's possession and be pleaded guilty on that account, counsel maintained that the theft was merely a technical one. A search had been made of nil ears leaving the mill on Saturday in an effort to trace missing gear and the* prosecution had been brought against I accused in default of any other. The bolts bad been picked up in long grass, rusty and with the threads broken, and bad obviously been discarded as junk. There was no suspicion attaching to the accused regarding other losses of material. Under the circumstances Messrs. 0. H. Coleman and J. .). Dillon, J.P.'s, ordered suppression of the name in convicting accused and ordering him to come up for sentence in six months il called upon.
