CREAM FOR THE PEOPLE
Sir, Two letters recently liave adverted to this subject. May 1 carry the argument a little further? For lib. Sof cream of -JO per cent test—quite a thick cream—the dairy farmer receives 6Jd. Translate this weight into pints and the return to him is Bd. Let the housewife consider what she pays for a pint of "near cream" (about 'ln per cent test), and compare this with what the farmer gets. If the price bore any reasonable relation to the farmer's return, what a lot more cream would be consumed in New Zealand. At a time when wo are likely to make far more butter than we can ship overseas, or cat lien", is it: not the obvious thing to entourage the consumption lit' cream by correcting this glaring price anomaly!'
