HUNTLY SCHOOL'S GIFT

NAMESAKE IN SCOTLAND NEW ZEALAND FLAG A New Zealand flag was recently sent by the Huntly District High School to the Gordon Schools in Huntly, Scotland, as a token of appreciation by the New Zealand children of the courage of the British people. The headmaster of the high school, Mr. D. A. McPherson, has now received from the headmaster of the Scottish school, Mr. H. Brebner, the thanks of his school and school authorities for the gift.

The flag, together with letters from Mr. McPherson and some of the children, was included in a box of comforts sent by the Huntly Patriotic and' Red Cross Committees for distribution among men of the fighting forces from the Scottish Huntly.

When mentioning this at a ceremony held at the Gordon Schools for the formal presentation of the flag, the president of the Huntly Towiiswomeij'i Guild, Mrs. P. H. Gordon, said the gifts were the outcome of the love and admiration which the people of Huntly, New Zealand, had for Britain. It was marvellous and touching to a degree to read and hear about the gifts, both of money and kind, which had been sent from the Dominions and colonies and not least from New Zealand. At the ceremony it was announced that the flag would be hung in the main hall of the secondary school building. Mr. Brebner also said it was his intention to send to the New Zealand school a replica of his school's crest, together with a number of letters from his pupils.
