Mr. J. B. Johnston travelled to Wellington last night, Mr. M. Steward, postmaster at Onewhero during the past six years, has been transferred to the staff of the Chief Post Office, Auckland. Dr. L. A. liiddcll. of Lauder, Central Otago, lias been appointed medical superintendent of the Wairoa Hospital The post was rendered vacant bv the death of Dr. H. B. Grey. Captain J. H. Hall, public relations officer with the New Zealand forces, has arrived safely in Egypt from Greece" This advice has been received bv hi* wife, Mrs. J. H. Hall, of Wellington". Word previously received by Mrs. Hall stated that her husband was missing. The Hon. H. G. It. Mason. Minister of Education, arrived from Wellington yesterday morning and inspected the Orakei and St. Heliers primary schools to investigate complaints of overcrowd, ing. He opened the annual exhibition of the Auckland Society of Arts in the afternoon, and returned south last night. Brigadier P. H. Bell, D.5.0., office! commanding the Northern Military Dig. trict, and Lieutenant-Colonel W. W. Dove, M.C., general staff officer, left for Wellington last night to attend a staff conference. Major R. S. Halliwell M.C., assistant-Quartermaster-General' Northern Military District, and Major C. A. Herman, assistant-Adjutant-Gen-eral, Northern Military District, left bv the afternoon express.
