Royal Lancer gave a sterling performance to win the Eiioughton Handicap under 0.5. He was always one of the leaders and followed Cymric, Cherokee, The Wrecker and Trench Fight into the straight. Royal Lancer ran past them :i furlong from home and was not troubled to win from Cherokee, who similarly beat Cymric. Prudent Prince was a head away, in front of King's Toast, with a gap to Wardress and Airline. Prudent Prince was unlucky, as his rider lost both trons at the five furlongs.

The race for the Duke of Gloucester Cup provided much interest: Anctor was the early leader, but he ran off the course going out of the straight and lost a good deal of ground. Fundy Bay had charge through the 'back stretch and piloted Taxpayer, Big Joe, Auctor, Islay Downs and Norse into the straight. Auctor had Fundy Bay beaten a furlong from the post, but was then challenged by Norse, who, with a sustained finishing run, scored comfortably. Taxpayer was a fair third, a neck in front of Fundy Bay and Big Joe. Density and Master Hotspur set a fast pace during the middle stages of the 6eadown Handicap, but the former was done with early in the run home and Master Hotspur was challenged by Rawhamai and Gold Flight, with Secret Flight and Stabilise making late efforts. Gold Flight won comfortably at the last from Master Hotspur, who narrowly beat Rawhamai. with Secret Flight finishing fast, a head away, into fourth place. Stabilise, who was slowly away and last into the straight, was a neck from Secret Flight, and Rebel Mate followed.
