Sir,—-Mr. (liiiniven's letter of May l.'i condemning the State Housing Department I'or what lie terms "bad town-planning" is interesting, lor his own actions are not in accord with ins expressed sentiments. Dnnng the past year Mr. Gniniven has exercised his mayoral casting vote six times. On four of these occasions his casting vote brought into being residential subdivisions below the minimum requirements of the borough bylaws —one section was only one-tenth of an acre in area
Why has lie always opposed town planning for Takapuna? Why did he oppose the City Council's invitation to join in the metropolitan town-planning scheme at the council meeting three weeks ago? And why did he wait until election week to writer' (' V. ItOI.YOAKH.
