GIFTS TO SOLDIERS
About 250 peofile attended a presentation evening to 10 members of the armed forces held under the auspices of the New Lynn Patriotic Committee in Si. Andrew's Mall, New Lynn, last night. The deputy-mayor, Mr. J. S. Akehurst, spoke on behalf of the residents of the district, and Mrs. Akehurst presented the- men with a money belt containing £l. Presentations "of parcels were made on behalf of the' New Lynn Returned Soldiers' Association by Mr. L. Baker, "by 'Mrs:' E. Conperthwaite, of the Happiness Club, and Mrs- R. Sirnms, of the New Lynn Women's Institute.
