Sirkcaldie, Norman Mervvn Kebbell (Pilot-Officer), R.N.Z.A.P., missing on operations.—Mrs. N. Kirkcaldie, Wellington (mother).
NORTHLAND FARMER HIGH JUMP CHAMPION (0.C.) WHANGAREI, Thursday Reported killed in action, Lieutenant N. R. McKay, aged 32, matriculated at the Whangarei High School, where he was a,, member of the school first fifteen. He farmed a large property at Waipu. Lieutenant McKay won promotion to commissioned rank in the North Auckland Mounted Rifles (Territorial). He left New Zealand as a lieutenant with the second echelon. In England he was transferred to the Anti-Tank Corps and given the temporary rank of captain, which he relinquished on rejoining the infantry. Lieutenant McKay won the Auckland provincial high jump championship and was a leading competitor in putting the shot and tossing the caber. He was a vice-president of the Waipu Caledonian Society.
HIGH OFFICER WOUNDED WHANGAHE! BARRISTER According to an announcement early in April Lieutenant-Colonel H. G. Carruth, who is reported wounded, was appointed to the temporary command of the Divisional Cavalry Regiment. He was formerly a barrister and solicitor in W hangarei.
