MAORIS AND WAR EFFORT
A unanimous resolution to support the Government in its war effort was passed by 200 Maoris who welcomed tlip Hon. V. K. Paikea, member of the Executive Council representing the native race, when he spent the weekend at tho Otamatea settlement. Mr. I'aikea spoke en defence matters. It was proposed to make certain recommendations to the Government whereby the Maori war effort could be accelerated.
