PERN StIRPBISES IN CUP farland beats sprinters GOOD INCREASE IN BETTING Three each-way favourites, Master Appellant. Court Favourite and Kaimanawa, were successful at the Matamata. Racing Club's Summer Meeting on Saturday, and two others, The Dozer and Duvaoh, were narrowly beaten. Pern scored an overdue win iii the Matamata Cup, after a splendid finish with I he Dozer and Forest Acre returning double figures. Farland prevailed over Noitaro aud the each-wav favourite Merry Vaals in the Waharoa Handicap. After running fourth in the cup. Erlick fourth and sixth favourite on the win and place machine respectively, scored in the Walton Handicap, a race in which he finished second to Pocket Venus last year, after winning the cup. The weather was fine and there was a very large attendance.
