TRAINING COURSE
TERRITORIAL UNITS OFFICERS AND N.C.O.'S COMMENCEMENT NEXT MONTH A two months' course of instruction has been arranged for prospective officers, warrant officers and non-com-missioned officers of northern military ! district Territorial Force units which | are due to begin three months' intensive training in April. The course for the officers and non-commissioned officers' is to start on February 1 and will carry the personnel concerned on to i the date when they have to begin with I the instruction of the other ranks of} their units. The units concerned are the sth I (Composite) Company, New Zealand Army Service Corps; the Ist Reserve Mechanical Transport Company; the Ist Motor Ambulance Convoy, New Zealand Medical Corps; the Bth Field Ambulance, New Zealand Medical Corps; and the Ist Reinforcements of the Ist Battalions of the Hauraki, North Auckland and Waikato Regiments. It has been decided to hold the two months' course for the selected personnel of the Army Service Corps, Motor Transport Company and transport wing of the Ambulance Convoy at Trentham. The Field Ambulance and medical wing of the Ambulance Convoy, together with the Ist Reinforcements of the Hauraki, North Auckland and Waikato Battalions will go to the Army District School, Narrow Neck. Prospective officers and non-commis-sioned officers for the sth Composite Company, Army Service Corps, will be provided by a proportion of the personnel now in camp with the Ist (Composite) Company. So far as infantry battalions are concerned, it has been decided that men to make up any shortages which existed during the October-December training period, together with any that have since occurred, will, if available, be trained with the Ist Reinforcements of these units during the April-June period. To train these men, a proportion of those already trained will be required for this additional period. PROSPECTIVE OFFICERS A R TILLER Y CA NDI DATES An additional 10 prospective officers for artillery units in the Expeditionary Force were selected this week in the northern military district, and left for Trentham yesterday to attend the 6th Officer Cadets Training Unit. They were: —Temporary-Sergeants G. Kelly, M. N. Riddle. Gunners W. Y. Clothier, L. A. Annison, L. B. Black, 1?. Telford, A. T. Johns, K. E. Myers, J. P. Cooney and G. T. Rapley.
