HAYMAKERS' TRIALS
Haymakers in the Franklin district have been finding the intense heat during the middle of the afternoon in the past few days very trying. The hay becomes so dry on the tips that pollen rises from the seetj heads, forming a most unpleasant dust. This and the heat appears to affect the lips, and wcll-tamied men wjth swollen, sore lips are now frequently to be seen. In some cases conditions have become too trying about 2 p.m. to enable the harvesting to continue, and a respite lias been taken.
