Mr. G. Trippner returned by Tasnia# Empire Airways flying-boal yesterday after a visit to Australia. Mr. F. R. Picot, director of the I n . ternal Marketing Division, is visiting Auckland, and is at the Grand Hotel. Brigadier P. H. Bell. D.5.0., officer commanding the northern' military district, returned from Wellington on Saturday. Mr. L. P. Healy and Mr. J. Paulie two Indian railway service engineers who are 011 their way to Canada, arrived yesterday by the flying-boat Aotearoa. They are at the Station Hotel. Major-General Sir John Duirr an Tv.B.E C.8., D.5.0.. Chief of the General Staff, arrived yesterday by flving-hont from. Sydney after visiting tin; Middle East and Greece. He is at the Grand Hotel. Pilot-Officer A. M Scott, son of Mr. and .Mrs. Alex B. Scott, Fox Street Gishorne, has received notice of his appointment to a post in the Air Ministry, London. He is at present on leave with his parents. Pilot-Officer Scott has been in the Defence Department for the past two years. The Hon. P. C. Webb, PostmasterGeneral, visited the Chief Post Office at Auckland in company with the chief postmaster, Mr. Pi. G. May, on Saturday morning, and saw the work going on in the various departments. The Minister intends to visit other post offices during his stay in Auckland. In the afternoon Mr. Webb attended the trotting meeting at Alexandra Park, Epsom, and this afternoon he will be present at the Auckland Racing Club's meeting at Kllerslie. To-morrow evening he will attend the Labour Club's New Year social.
