There are 10.037.084 miles of road in the world. America has 3,065.000 miles, Russia 1,082,000, Japan 591,(66, Australia 485.5-16, France 393, 761, India and Burma 314,122, Germany 262,874, Britain 178,904, Italy 174,938, New Zealand 87,760 and China 61,430. An additional 2.109,495 miles ol highway have been constructed in the last ten vears. due greatly to the increase of "motor 'transport. There are 45,022.777 vehicles in service throughout "the world, including 36,439,952 cars, 7.951.184 trucks, 458,958 buses and 172,083 diesel-engmed units, so that there are about 4$ vehicles foi everv mile of road.
