SECRETARY RESIGNS
PATRIOTIC COUNCIL MR. K. L. USMAR'S WORK The resignation of Mr. K. L. Usmar, provincial seorctary of' the Auckland Provincial Patriotic Council, was submitted at a meeting of the council last night. In a letter to the chairman, Sir Ernest Davis, Mr. Usmur referred to the great ampunt of work involved and said he could no longer give to it the undivided and continuous attention it deserved. Many tributes were paid to Mr. Usmar's work. Sir Ernest described it - as brilliant, and said Mr. Usmar had been doing two and sometimes" three men's work. Moreover, he had done the work in a purely honorary capacity. The resignation, was referred to the Standing Committee, to investigate the possibility of retaining Mr. Usmar's services perhaps in ? an advisory capacity.
