TASMAN AIR SERVICE
15 PASSENGERS BROUGHT SIX-WEEKS OLD CHILD ON BOARD Carrying heavy mail and freight and with 15 passengers, the Tasman Empire Airways flying-boat Aotearoa arrived from Sydney yesterday afternoon under the command of Captain Oscar Garden. She was to have made the crossing on Sunday but. was delayed by stormy weather. Yesterday's flight was made in generally favourable conditions, although nearing New Zealand the flyingboat ran into contrary winds, and did not arrive as early as expected. A six-weeks-old girl was among the passengers, making the flight with her mother, Mrs. F. C. Heffernan. who arrived on a visit to her mother in Auckland. The flying-boat has carried only one younger traveller, a fourweeks okl infant who made the crossing recently. A passenger on the flying-boat was Mr. Ralph Stewart, owner of the New Zealand racehorse Beau Yite, which has been brought across the Tasman by steamer. Mr. Stewart was accompanied by Mrs. Stewart. The other passengers were: —Messrs W. Thorpe, J. M. Hussey, G. ,J. Hussey. G. C. Russell, S. It. Hawken, W. Montgomerie, J. C. F. AValton and J. De Winton, Mesdames M. S. Hawken and C. Montgomerie and Miss M. F. Pollard. The flying-boat brought 6221b of mail and 2701b of freight, the mail consignment being one of the heaviest carried. The next crossing to Sydney will be made on Thursday.
PAN AMERICAN CLIPPER FLIGHT FROM SAN FRANCISCO The Pan American Airways' California Clipper will leave San Francisco to-day on the first stage of her flight to Auckland, where she is expected on Saturday. The American Clipper arrived at San Francisco from Honolulu, via Los Angeles shortly after mid-day on Sunday.
