(VICTORY FOR MINTLAW MERRY VAALS WINS SPRINT HACK CUP'TO LORD WAITANGI Two heavy rain showers, the first hefore the second race and the other before the chief event, temporarily quenched the enthusiasm of speculators at Te Rapa yesterday, when the Waikato Racing' Club's * Spring Meeting tvus concluded. The rest' of the afternoon was dull and warm, and the track ■was heavy. Mintlaw won the Hamilton jjandicap narrowly from Greek Queen, but the favourite. Merry Vaals. had a decisive victory in the open sprint xace, the Kirikiriroa Handicap. Lord "VViiitangi was successful in the Waikato Hack Cup. There was a good attendance, and the. iotalisator handled £33.457, compared with £38,719 10s. a decrease of £5202 10s. For •the meeting, the total was £82,030, compared with last jear's aggregate of £91,289. a decrease of £12,233.
