BABY CARNIVAL ENDS
MILFORD CHILD WINS £SOO A DOMINION CONTEST An Auckland baby, Christian Harrison, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. Harrison, of 64 Nile Road, Milford, has been chosen as winner of a national Centennial baby carnival conducted by the Order of St. John in an effort to raise funds for various purposes. The first prize is £SOO. The carnival was begun early this year and was conducted with the help of theatres controlled by Fullers' Theatre Corporation, Limited, and a number'*.of' independent houses. Prizes of a substantial amount wero donated. Moving pictures of the entrants were taken and displayed at a theatro in the individual entrant's district. From voting by patrons, theatre winners were chosen and these subsequently took part in district contests. Eventually North and South Island finalists were selected, nnd Christian Harrison proved to be the more popular. Many hundreds of babies were entered in the carnival. A cheque for £SOO will be presented to Mr. and Mrs. Harrison at>a ceremony in tho Victoria Theatre, Devonport, next Monday evening.
