CAPITAL PUNISHMENT
Sir, —The sentiments expressed by the elderly working woman signing herself "K.K.F." ring true, and she need make no apology for her ability to express herself. A great writer on the subject of punishment f<)r crime has stated that we may be assured of the administration of justice within a community only when the great bulk of people., who are not affected by the crime, have the same revulsion of feeling toward tlie criminal as the injured relatives have. Under a system of law, retribution cannot be exacted bv individual citizens, however much they have been injured. This is the prerogative of the State, and it is the State's duty to carry out the penalties imposed by the Courts. The complaint of "F.E.F." is fuuda mental. The present Government, in more fields than one, instead of being Ministers (servants) of the people, have become dictators, and instead of merely carrying out the wish of the people, have imposed their own will with apparent disregard of established law.
