LABOURER KILLED
CAR GOES OVER BANK FALL OF 60 FEET COMPANION ESCAPES LIGHTLY [from our own correspondent] TAIHAPE, Sunday A labourer at the Waiouru military camp died in the Taihape Hospital yesterday from injuries received in a motor accident near Mangaweka, about ]4 miles south of Taihape, on Friday evening. The victim was:— Mr. William Henry Walker, aged 50, married. Mr. Walker nnd another worker at the Waiouru camp, Mr. John Joseph Murphy, were proceeding by car to Mr. Walker's home at Mangaweka when they met another car travelling ing the opposite direction. In passing the other car on a bend, Mr. Walker's car went over a bank, falling about 60ft. Both men were unconscious when found, but Mr. Murphy regained consciousness soon afterward. He suffered superficial cuts only. An inquest was opened at Taihape yesterday and adjourned after evidence of identification had been given by Mr. Walker's wife.
