AUCKLAND CHAMPIONSHIP VICTORY FOR D. CHATFIELD Favourable weather prevailed on Saturday when the TOO miles Auckland cycle championship was held from Papakura to Xgaruawahia and back. Riding the best race of his career. D. Chatfield, Manukau, completed tho distance in fastest time, being une second ahead of W. Ferguson, while J W. Partridge, who finished 12 minutes later, was third. After passing tho Bombay deviation on the return journey, Chatfield and Ferguson drew away from the remainder and in a close finish the former gained the verdict by a length. Following were tho results: —Handicap: R. K. 11. Sanders, 27m, 1; L. R. Hunt, 27m, 2; S. J. Baird, 34m, 3; M. Stewart, 20m, 5. Time, 4h 52m 355. Championship: D. Chatfield, 4h 39m 12s, 1; w.
