£3OO WORTH STOLEN THIEF BREAKS SHOW WINDOW [BY TELEGRAPH —OTVX CORRESPONDENT] GREYMOUTH, Friday A daring: smash and grab raid occurred in Greymouth oarlv this morning, when wristlet watches and men's rings valued at between £'2so and £3OO were stolen from the show window of Mr. John Tennent's jewellery store. The thief smashed one section of a quarter-inch plate-glass window, making a jagged hole approximately ISin. square. Articles within reach of the hole were taken, comprising about 20 men's and women's gold watches and a number of signet rings. The show window is kept brilliantly lighted at night and the thief was able to make a careful selection. Apart from the articles stolen, a crystal sherry glass was smashed under a heavy piece of falling glass. To-day is the 30th anniversary of thts first burglary at the shop and there have been three since, although it is some years since the last.
