ADVERSE YEAR
A. AND P. ASSOCIATION A loss of over £974 on the year's activities was reported at the annual meeting of the Auckland Metropolitan Agricultural and Pastoral Association yesterday. The president, Mr. S. I. Crookes, presided. In presenting the balance-sheet, the president sai<J there had been a loss of £827 on the summer show.' This had been due to the welcome to the ship's crew of the Achilles clashing with the first show day and the wet weather that followed throughout the remaining period. A special gymkhana had been held later in an effort to redeem the loss, but wet weather again prevailed and only a very small profit was derived. The cancellation of the winter show had also reacted on the finances.
Appreciation was recorded of the services of Mr. J. P. Kalaugher, retiring vice-president, who lias resigned from the council. The president said Mr. Kalaugher had hen actively connected with the association for 28 years. Officers were appointed as follows: President, Mr. S. I. Crookes (reelected): vice-presidents, Messrs. A. A. Swaflield and.O. 11. Self.
