AID FOR LONDON

NO PAUSE IN DONATIONS OVER £I4OO YESTERDAY FUND NOW TOTALS £BSIB With contributions yesterday amounting to £1407 19s 6d, the fund opened by the New Zealand Herald for the Auckland Provincial Patriotic Council's appeal for its quota of £he £IOO,OOO sent to assist London victims of the German air raids has now reached a total of £BSIB 6s 9d. People in all parts of the province continue unhesitatingly to give what they can to aid this urgent cause. All the contributions are noteworthy, but one attracting special attention yesterday was the £.50 sent in from the Auckland Girls' Grammar School as a result of an effort during the past week by the stair and pupils. Other contributions were accompanied by letters expressing the donors' admiration for the courage of the Londoners in face of the merciless attacks of the German aircraft and sympathy with them in their losses. Donations come from all classes of homes and from people in all types of work. Pensioners and widows unselfishly number themselves among those many who say they wish their gifts could be greater. Contributions to the fund may be sent by post or paid direct at the Hkrald Office. Those forwarded by mail should be accompanied by precise instructions as to the form of acknowledgment desired. To ensure accuracy, the name or initials should be written in block letters.
