SIX FURLONGS BY ODTAA SEVERAL JUMPERS SCHOOLED B\T ARCHER Some smart sprinting was accomplished at Ellerslie yesterday and among the horses to work nicely were Llandalf, Odtaa, Hinehou, Phil Vaals and Biddy Girl. The Poland Cup candidate Clinch worked usefully over a round, finishing strongly without being extended. The No. 2 grass was used for galloping and the going was fast. On the grass Bronzo Fire (Jlcarii) strodo over six furlongs in 1. - J7 2-5, tho last three in -12 l-ss. Golden Pay (Gilchrist) was under a ,good hold while running three furlongs in 4<J 2-uS. Tybalt (Pell) covered four furlongs in 51 2-ss. Bronzo (.Poad) and Laudvoyor (MeTavish) reeled off three furlongs in 38 3-ss. They shaped nicely for novices. Acre's Beauty (Messervy) and Bournemouth (Cammick) broke away in front and led Flying Jay (Thomson) over four furlongs in -19 3-ss. In addition to being in the rear at tho start. Flying Jay was on the outside and his effort was very satisfactory. Hinehou (Vaughan) moved freely over four furlongs in -19 4-ss. Topette (Tremaiu) sprinted threo furlongs in 395. Golden Bonnet (E. Manson) strode over six furlongs in 1.2.8 3-5. Phil Vaals (Gilchrist) displayed dash while running four furlongs from tho soven to the three in 19 4-ss. Llandaff (Messervy) was responsible for the best half-mile in 19 l-ss. He has not had tho g;oing to suit him in his last two starts and will do better on top of the ground. Sebrof (Thomson) completed useful work with four furlongs ill 50 3-ss. Biddy Girl (Ryan) covered the same distance in •19 2-s*. She Is making good progress after a slight interruption in hor preparation. Dublin Show (Vaughan) and Master Warden (light boy) lost four furlongs in 51 2-ss. Natal (Tremain) sprinted three furlongs in 38 3-ss. Easy Round by Clinch Clinch (Cameron) and Stratford (Vaughan) encompassed a round in l.s<> 1-5, the last four furlongs in 53 2-ss. Clinch looks all tho bettor for his race in tho Avondale Cup and was going easily throughout. Odtaa (Gilchrist) ran tho best six furlongs in 1.17 4-5, the two-year-old Den Pasa (Messervy) assisting liini over the first two in 24 1-Os. Den Pasa is a chestnut filly by Vaals from AVilira nia. Odtaa is thriving and seems to liavo benefited by his recent racing. Ruo de Paix (Cameron) and Goldraco (Vaughan) covered four furlongs in s<>s.

Boy Lu (Coon) and Loyal Grant (Gommell) gave a good display over four furlongs. Tahiti (Williams), who jumped well last week, shirked his work when sent out to jump the pony hurdles and was later given a lend by Sardue (O'Connor), who shapes well. Ringshot (Ritchie) and Inyatis (Gemmell) cleared four hurdles boldly. To Ronga (Neil) and Leighton Buzzard (Ritchie) cleared the steeplechaso fences on the flat boldly.

Among thoso seen out on the latter track was Bird of Prey, by Solicitor-General from Capercailzie, bred and owned by Mr. G. R. Macdonald and trained at Chokcbore. She is a well-grown filly and attracted attention by sprinting three furlohgs in good time, without apparent effort. Hainmall, by Mysotis from Palanquin, a filly by Man's' Pal from Universal and a filly by M.vsotis from Miss Nightraid were companions in two sprints on the inside track and all acquitted themselves w'ell, the firstnamed especially displaying marked promise. A filly by Solicitor-General from March Off ii:::! Verlagia, by Vermeer from Pelagia, were also companions in easy work. They are expected to show early speed. Others worked together were two of C. Emerson's team, Blue Bouquet, by Mysotis from Royal Baby, and As Required, by Tideraco from Kofou. The Wrecker was not able to race at the Geraldino meeting because of soreness, which will necessitate an easy time for a brief period. Aggravate Is also to havo a .respite, following an injury when he became cast in his box before the Gcraldine meeting. Rebellion has been spelled since the Ashburton meeting, at which he met with an injury.

HASTINGS GALLOPS GAYEST SON WELL FORWARD [by telegraph OWN correspondent] HASTINGS, Tuesday High Morale went pleasingly to record 37 4-5s for three furlongs at Hastings to-day. Avelona and Malvona took 41 2-5s and Stolen Coat rocorded 42 2-5s easily. Gayest Son gave evidence of early winning form by covering three furlongs in 37s on the plough. He may reappear at the Mastortoli meeting ami lator race at Wellington and Christchurch. Ivathbolla was under restraint to run three furlongs in 40s. She is in great fettle.
