MORE EMPLOYMENT
INCREASE IN AUSTRALIA SYDNEY, Sept. 34 Unemployment continues to decline in Australia. Trades that furnish reports to the Commonwealth statistician periodically are the basis of computation. The December, 1939, quarter showed a decrease of .9 per cent, and the March, 1940, quarter showed a further decrease of 2.3 per cent. The decrease continued during the June quarter. .The number of persons employed in Australian factories in 1935-J39 (the latest available figures) Mas 22.6 per cent greater than in the pro-depression year of 1928-29. It is officially estimated that factory employment in Victoria has shown an increase of 4.6 per cent in 19-10 and in New South Wales 4 per cent in 1910
