IMPORT REDUCTIONS

PLAN FOR THE FIFTH PERIOD DETAILS OF THE ALLOCATIONS ALTERATIONS MADE IN THE CLASSES Most items in the tariff schedule previously not subject to allocations under the import control scheme have been added under the fifth period plan, which will operate from January 1, 1941, until the end of that year. The details were announced yesterday. Reductions are based on the value of the imports for the corresponding period of 1938. The prefix "ex" to an item indicates that only a portion of the class specifically mentioned is subject to restriction. The figures given arc the percentage of reduction, so that "nil" means no reduction and 100 complete prohibition. Details of new classes under tho schedule or in respect of which there have been allocations are as follows: Percentages of Reduction United Kingdom Crown Other Colonies British Foreign Tariff Items etc. Countries Countries No. '% % % 9—Seeds: Canary, grass, hemp, linseed, etc. .■ .. ..
