STATE HOUSES
Sir, —Will your correspondent "J.C." tell us why it's necessary to mako any charge for State houses if the money used to build them is costless, as he maintains? In Australia workers' houses built by tho Government are available at 19s 3d per week, against 30s and upward hero. The former are built with money which has to meet usual interest charges. Can "J.C." explain this away? It should bo easy for him.
