CIVIL SERVANT F : IN E D [BT TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION] WELLINGTON, Friday Stated by counsel to have been locked up in a ship's prison with a bayoneted guard over him all night until he was taken to tho police station this morning, George Arthur Farnwortli, a civil servant, pleaded guilty in the Magistrate's Court to-day before Mr. J. L. Stout, S.M., to a breach of the Shipping Emergency Regulations by going aboard a transport some time ago without a permit. The police said the accused was noticed leaving the ship about 9.45 p.m. Asked to produce his pass, he refused and gave a false name. Later he admitted his identity and produced the pass, which had been cancelled when the 6hip was last in England. Defendant was fined £2 and costs.
