ASSESSMENT COURT

OBJECTIONS TO VALUATIONS Objections to Government valuations in Auckland City were heard by the Assessment Court yesterday. The Court was presided over by Mr. A. McLachlan, with Mr. L. J. Brake, Government assessor, and Mr. F. A. Jarrett, ratepavers' assessor. The principal case was a dispute over the valuation of properties in Queen Street between the Town Hall and lvarangahape Road. The objectors considered that values in the area ranged from £3O to £SO a foot, while the Government valuation was from £4O to £75. Mr. Goldstine and Dr. McElroy appeared for the objectors and Mr. C. W. Chilcott for the Valuation Department. The Court will inspect the properties before announcing its decision. Having completed its business in Auckland, the Court will hold sittings at Warkwortli to-day, at Whangarei on September 2, and at Dargaville on September 3.
