WEIGHT-LIFTING TITLES
Due In no small measure to tho efforts of the secretary of tho New Zealand Weightlifters' Association, Mr. K. R. Mitchell, weight-lifting has made rapid advance as a body-building and recreational pastime, and throughout tho Dominion now clubs have been springing up. As a result of a conference held at Palmerston North recently it was agreed to proceed with the arrangements for tho New Zealand championships to bo held in Wanganui from October 26 to October 2S, but, should developments in tho near future make it necessary to cancel these championships, advice will bo given to all centres without delay. The Wanganui Centre is promoting the meeting with enthusiasm, and it promises to be a great success. President of tho New Zealand Association is Dr. T. H. Pettit. well-know Auckland sportsman, who is president of the Auckland Swimming Centre and also a member of the National Council of Physical Welfare and Recreation.
