MATCHES ON SATURDAY SPECIAL CHALLENGE GAME RICHMOND TO PLAY HUNTLY The playing of future matches at Carlaw Park "vvas discussed at last evening's meeting of the Auckland Rugby League, when a definite programme was confirmed. Jt was firstly decided to play a special challenge match next Saturday, between Huntly, the champion Waikato team, and Richmond, winner of the Auckland championship. To assist the injured players' fund, it was decided to play Auckland and the Maori representatives on Saturday week, The chairman, Mr. G. Grey Campbell, said that next Saturday's series of club matches would undergo somo change to allow Huntly, to meet Richmond in the principal fixture. So far as the Auckland-Maori game was concerned, it was agreed to play this fixture in conjunction with a special series of club matches to bo arranged. Discussion on the proposed Auckland v. The Rest of New Zealand match was deferred, pending a further conference with the New Zealand Rugby League. . Appreciation was expressed to tho ladies committee for a further donation of £lO toward the injured players' fund. Tho ohairman said a previous donation of JL'2O had been made. A report was received from the schoolboys' committee that a representative team would leavo for New Plymouth by this afternoon's train, and play on Saturday. Messrs. L. Rout and J. Silva were appointed managers. A letter was received from the Referees' Association complaining about the action of club officials in encroaching on the playing field during the progress of tho Richmond versus Marist game la-st Saturday in order to attend to injured players. It was pointed
out by Mr. E. Chapman that a Richmond player appeared to be badly hurt, and he was actually outside tho playing area. Mr. Campbell said the official did not in any way interfere with the game. The complaint was considered trivial, and no action was taken. Mr. Campbell expressed thanks for tho many kindly actions of tho ladies' social committee and officials during his Tecent illness. "I am particularly grateful also to Messrs. E. J. Phelan and J. W. Probert, who acted as chairmen, and it is all the more gratifying to observe that everything has gone exceedingly well during my absence," said the speaker. Tho newly-appointed chairman of the Auckland Harbour Board, MA H. Luke, wrote expressing appreciation for the hearty congratulations conveyed on his appointment. Permission was srranted tho third grade representative team to use special facilities at Carlnw Park for training purposes. Several jujiior fixtures will be arranged in connection with the injured players' gala. Fixtures for Saturday:—Senior challenge match: Hunlly v. Richmond, Carlaw Park No. 1, 3.1-0 p.m.; Mnnukau v. North Shore, Carlaw Park No. 1, 1.45 p.m.; Ponsonby v. Marist. Carlaw Park No. 2. 3.10-P.m.,' Mr. S. Billman; City v. Newton, Carlaw Park No. 2, 1.45 p.m., Mr. J. O'Shannessy: Mount Albert v. Papakura. Fowlds Park, Morningside. 3 p.m., Mr. J. Donovan. The referees for the matches on No; 1 ground have yet to bo appointed. HUNTLY TEAM SELECTED The Huntly team to play Richmond on Saturday is as follows:—Backs: T. Shaw, R. Tarplett. L. White. E. Tukere, R. Shaw. Forwards: P. Minhinnick, J. Brookes, D. McGiip, G. Moyes, F. McAllister, G. Stevens. Reserves: R. Taylor, Smith, J. McGaughran, A. Taumata.
