(Received August 21, 8.50 p.m.) CHICAGO, August 20 .Tim Ferrier, the Australian, beat Henry Bowbcer. 1 up. Nt the 20th, in the first round of the Chicago district amateur golf championship. After being 2 down going to the 3 7th, he rallied to win the next two holes and square tho match. In his second match of the day Ferrier defeated the Mexican champion, John Barnum, 5 and 4, thereby advancing to the quarter-final*, where lio will in cot Bill Chambers.
