The non-arrival of a number of Auckland entrants spoilt the afternoon session, but the events in the evening were full of interest to a large attendance. A special prize, presented by Booth, MacDonald, Limited, for tho most scientific boxer was awarded to J. Cameron, of Hamilton. The referees wero. Messrs. J. Summers and N. Vernall. AUCKLAND CHAMPIONSHIPS The monthly meeting of the Auckland Boxing Association was held last evening, Mr. Neil McLean presiding. The secretary reported that donations had been received from Messrs. G. Lee, J. Farrell, S. W. Smith, W. Wright, R. McCrystal and G. Birch for the purchase of trophies for amateur contests. It was decided to close tho entries for the Auckland boxing championships on Monday next at 5 p.m. The championships will bo held at tho Auckland Town Hull on Monday, Tuesday and "Wednesday, .September 2, 3 and 4 Junior and senior divisions have been provided for, and large entries nre expected, particularly in the junior section.
