CONSCRIPTION APPROVED
LABOUR POINT OF VIEW "AN AIR OF RELIEF" The introduction of conscription i 3 praised by an Auckland correspondent of the Labour paper, the Standard, who writes that "the wisdom of giving a month's notice before enforcing conscription of manpower is highly praised in trade and industrial circles in Auckland. Conscription in all its phases has been accepted without recriminations, and the 'all-in' policy to which the Dominion is now committed is endorsed by the actions and deeds of all sections of the community. "There is no doubt that the public as a whole hns accepted the position and is prepared to meet in every way possible the demands made upon it. As far as conscription of manpower is concerned, there is more an air of relief that the decision is now out of the individual's hands, together with a conviction that the burden of maintaining the New Zealahd Division overseas will bo borne equally by all sections of the communitv."
