DISPUTE SETTLED
HANDLING PRODUCE FREEZING CHAMBER HANDS RESUMPTION OF OVERTIME The dispute which resulted in 100 chamber hands employed by the Auckland Farmers' Freezing Company refusing overtime work since last Wednesday was settled yesterday morning and overtime work was resumed last evening. The men had refused to work overtime,'outside of the hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., until guaranteed a minimum of two hours' wages. The men have agreed to work any overtime considered necessary, but no minimum rate of pay for overtime work has been agreed to by the company. The employers, however, have offered to refrain from working overtime as far as possible when it is apparent tliat less than two hours' work is available. The dispute has principally affected the loading of produce into overseas ships, as it has not been possible for refrigerated waggons from the works to be on the wharves in time for the 8 a.m. waterfront start. The loading of these vessels will now resume in a normal way.
