CHILDREN'S ESCAPADE
NIGHT SPENT IN SCRUB [by telegraph —OWN correspondent] PAEROA, Monday Three orphan children residing with a guardian in Paeroa yesterday decided to spend the night away from home and return in the morning to make a first of April joke on their guardian. The guardian arranged for the three children, aged 12, 11 and 8 years, to attend Sunday school, and went to visit a patient in hospital. The children were not at home on her return and at nightfall the police were informed. Search parties were formed and various localities were searched all night. The search was continued to-day and about 5 p.m. the children were found on the Paeroa-Waihi road about two miles from Paeroa. They were none ti\s worsci for their adventure. They spent the night in the scrub, having had a bag of apples for food.
